Lance Sergeant Whiting’s Model Soldiers

Lance Sergeant Leslie Burnell Whiting was born in Hertford where his father worked for Webbs leather factory at Hornsmill. He enlisted in the 1st Hertfordshire Regiment in 1941, aged 26, and was killed at Monte Cecco, Italy on October 19th 1944. Lance Sergeant Whiting made these soldiers from ammunition lead whilst at Scorby Camp, Brigg, in Yorkshire.
