This wireless set was used by the 1st Hertfordshire Regiment Territorial Army and later by the Hertford Army Cadet Corps, based at Port Hill, Hertford.
Wireless Set 31 was a short range man-pack transceiver, used by the British Army for communications between infantry units and could be carried as a pack on march. It was first developed during the Second World War but was not introduced to the troops until 1948.
